The Brora connection In 1923 James Braid, five times Open Champion and prolific course designer (the most famous of which is Gleneagles) visited the club at Brora and redesigned the course. It remains a fair and challenging test of true traditional links course.

James Braid

Born in the Earlsferry side of Elie, Fife on 6 February 1870, Braid was the Scots member of the 'great triumvirate' which dominated British golf for twenty years before the First World war, along with J H Taylor and Harry Vardon. Braid went to London in 1893 to work as club-maker and was based in England throughout his professional career.
